Bobby Bhasker-Rao, MD, FACS

Fellowship-trained Weight Loss Surgeon in Rancho Cucamonga

Dr. Bobby Bhasker-Rao, or simply “Dr. Bobby,” as he is known by his patients, is one of southern California’s most highly regarded bariatric surgeons, sought for his extensive experience in the latest minimally-invasive techniques, his warm, caring nature, and his genuine commitment to his patients’ long-term success and well-being.

He is one of the only bariatric surgeons on the west coast performing robotic-assisted bariatric surgery, which incorporates 3D imaging for a more precise operation with lower risk for complications and a significantly shorter recovery time—many of his patients go home within 24 hours after surgery.

Dr. Bobby has performed 3,000+ successful weight loss procedures

Dr. Bobby has focused solely on bariatric surgery for the past 14+ years, and over this time has helped over 3,000 patients dramatically improve their health, outlook, and quality of life through successful weight loss surgery.

While his superb surgical skill and knowledge achieve safe, successful surgical outcomes for his patients, Dr. Bobby understands that long-term patient success requires a long-term commitment to care, beyond the operating room. He works with each patient after surgery to ensure they receive nutritional counseling, emotional support, physical activity protocols, and other support necessary to help them keep the weight off.

Education & Training

Dr. Bobby attended medical school at Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Loma Linda, CA, and completed his surgical residency at Brookdale University Hospital & Medical Center in New York.

He went on to complete a Bariatric Surgery Fellowship at University of California, Davis Medical Center, where he trained alongside some of the world’s leading weight loss surgeons in minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques, including single-incision laparoscopic surgery. During his fellowship, Dr. Bobby also served as a Clinical Instructor of Surgery. He currently serves as a proctor for incoming and experienced bariatric surgeons, helping them learn and improve their surgical technique.
